Radhe Structorepair Pvt Ltd humbled to exhibit "Retrofitting & refurbishment of B M Institute of Mental Health, Ahmedabad" ( An institute which brings change in the quality of life of people with special need related to total well being and sound mental health). B M Institute of Mental health is very first green roof building in India with unique aesthetics that we were tasked to preserve. Our team worked diligently to enhance the functionality and sustainability of the space while maintaining the original charm.
Institute was constructed in 1951 with roof garden making it first of it’s kind in India.
Gardening water & rain Water seeped below slab causing damage to RC structures coupled with corrosion of reinforcement.
There was a need to retrofit and also refurbish building
3 different buildings taken up for retrofitting & refurbishment job in 3 different phases.
All delaminated and loosely hold concrete / plaster removed safely.
Small patches in RC elements repaired using hand applied, single component, thixotropic repair mortar.
Migrating type Bi-polar Corrosion Inhibitor have been used to prevent ongoing and protect against future corrosion of embedded steel.
Cracks / honeycombing in core concrete injected with epoxy to make it dense.
Column & Beams were jacked as per structural design, using high strength, dual shrinkage compensating micro-concrete.
Slab retrofitted using unidirectional E-Glass fibre as per the design.
Retrofitting of Institute building got in line with current code of building design.
Refurbishment extended service life of building to couple of more decades.
